Well I think this would be a great reference for beginners like me, new to being in a band and getting started with the scene of gigging. Even if the band below doesn't work out it would still be some good advice that could be given out.


Some important questions
-How would you get that kickstart and get some first gigs, getting the feel to know what playing a show is like and such?

-getting publicity, and known around locally a bit. What are some good ways to get this, and actually get a fanbase that will see your shows. Keep in mind we're not rich.

-Getting out of that rut of "starter" gigs, I see a lot of the same bands playing in crappy small venues and battle of the bands. It would still be underground but basically getting gigs in front of a decent crowd per-se. Or is this just the only place 17-19


Some notable advice I have

-Don't play free
-get a myspace for reference
-make a demo
-post flyers stickers and such (in montreal it is legal to on public propert)
-Get a attractive girl to sell merch
-team up with other bands possibly host your own show
-get to know the scene, meat more and more fellow bands and musicians
-try and open for a popular local group


Most important
-Perform well
- make good music
-convince your product is worth it
-have stage presence


PRACTISE PRACTISE PRACTISE!!! Nobody wants to listen to a bad band
